Pairs Head

The weekend brought great success at the Pairs Head, the first tideway head of the season.

The elite double of James Dunley and Mike Hennessy won overall, twenty-five seconds clear of the rest of the field, and secured the headship for the club for a third year in a row (or five years in a row, counting wins in composite crews).

A further three pennants were claimed: Gareth Sharpe and Stephen Robinson in S2 pairs, Dickie Clarke and Frank Llewellyn in Vet E pairs, and Lucas Dalglish, along with Anna McNuff of ULWBC, in mixed S1 doubles.

Jo Al-Janabi and Pat Canning posted the fastest time in Women’s Vet D/E/F doubles by a comfortable margin, but found that their youth was not on their side as they lost the pennant on handicap to the sole Vet F double in the category.

As last year, the club was out in force, with eighteen crews and four composites starting, and club members from all sections – junior, senior and veteran, men and women – taking part.
