Hammersmith Head and other news
Sunday was the turn of the men's squad, who had three boats in Hammersmith Head. All three crews finished in the top ten, with TSS A claiming both the Elite pennant and the headship, thirteen seconds clear of the second-placed crew, and TSS B, in third place, taking the Senior 2 pennant.
Further afield, Mahe Drysdale is at Lake Karapiro, trialling (weather permitting) against Rob Waddell to be named as New Zealand's single sculler for the coming season. Meanwhile in Australia, Rod Chisholm is training with the lightweight squad with a strong chance of selection to the lightweight four.
In South Africa, Nick Rowett has completed a very successful season coaching Grey High School in Port Elizabeth, which culminated in six medals (and the award of a new single scull) at Buffalo Regatta and was followed up by the school's best performance at the South African Schools' Championships: a gold and a bronze medal, and six other crews in A finals.
