Weekend racing

The weekend brought success at all levels, from the Tinies Championships at Dorney Lake to the first round of the FISA World Cup in Munich.

World Cup I

Alan Campbell took the gold medal in the men's openweight single sculls in a world-class field.

Borne @ Chiswick Bridge

The veteran women again fielded a quad, and the lineup of Heather Farmbrough, Rosemary Thom, Pat Canning and Jo Al-Janabi chalked up another win.

There was also success for the veteran men. A crew of Graham Bagnall, Roger Swift, Anthony Jones, Peter Watts, Francis Pinkerton, Frank LlewellynDickie Clarke and Mike Peregrine, coxed by Andy Probert, won Vet E eights.  

Tinies Championships

The first regatta of the season for many of the younger juniors was rewarded with a couple of medals and encouraging performances all round. Saskia won gold in the Women's J11 singles,  as did the the Women's J12 quad of Sophie, Saskia, Isobel and Hermione, coxed by Otto.

Poplar

The men's and women's senior squads went to the docks for some multi-lane racing and, despite less than ideal conditions, won five events.

In single sculls, Mel Sage recorded a comfortable victory in Women's Elite, Hannah Moon won Women's Senior 2 and Gareth Sharpe won his novice pot.

The coxed four of Toby Marshall, Toby Arbeid, Leon Taylor and Charlie Clarke, coxed by Zoe Davies, won Senior 1, and Jamie Halliday and Stan Livy took Senior 1 doubles.
