Wallingford
The newly formed Scullers eight started the summer season with a very satisfactory result.
Racing Elite first allowed the crew to test themselves against some quality opposition from Leander, Molesey and London Rowing Club. After dropping a length in the first 500m, a strong middle 1000m saw them row down the Molesey crew and hold Leander. At the finish they were second, five seconds off a strong Leander Ladies' Plate crew.
The Senior 1 race later in the day was a chance to race crews of a level they are more likely to meet at Henley. Pushed hard by Agecroft in the first 500m, TSS were a length up on the field by half way and and defended their position to the finish without needing to race for the line. A positve start to the summer season and special mention goes to John Collins and Antony Smith for losing their novice sweep status at such a competitive level. TCG

- J15 4x+
- J15 2x
- WJ18 2x
- S3 1x
- J14 1x
International selection
The Great Britain team for the first leg of the 2008 World Cup series has been announced.
Two TSS athletes will be racing in Munich from 8th to 11th May.
Tash Howard will return to the course where she won a bronze medal at last year's World Championships, again as part of the women's eight, while Alan Campbell races in the heavyweight single.
Also, James Clarke, son of Dickie, retains his place in the world-champion lightweight coxless four.
In addition, Rodrigo Ideus Forero will race in the men's single for Colombia and former club member Nora Fiechter is in the Swiss women's heavyweight double.
Rowing Australia have confirmed Rod Chisholm as a member of the lightweight coxless four, which will race at the second World Cup regatta, in Lucerne from 30th May to 1st June.
Unfortunately Tash Howard is injured and will not be racing at Munich.
Hammersmith Amateur
Saturday's glorious weather marked the start of the summer racing season, and the club's 2008 campaign began at Hammersmith Amateur Regatta.
The Veteran Women fielded a Vet D quad of Pat Canning, Gilly Williams, Rosemary Thom and Heather Farmbrough and they triumphed over local rivals Mortlake, Anglian and Alpha, winning their straight final by three lengths.
Laurie and Tom from the Junior Men's Squad raced against several adult crews in Novice doubles but recorded decisive victories in each round and finished two-and-a-half lengths ahead of Auriol Kensington B in the final.

Ball Cup
The Ball Cup (South) will be held at Dorney on Sunday 11th May.
It's now a massive event, but is still dependent on voluntary help. If anyone is able to help with the running of this regatta, please contact Graham Middleton - ghm2@btopenworld.com.
The regatta now has its own website - www.ballcupregatta.org.uk/ - which gives entry details and also a detailed history of the event and its place in schools' rowing.
