Proceedings start at 10.30 on Wednesday, with a first-round race against Molesey B in the Thames Cup. All other events start on Thursday, and timetable details will be published on the Henley website.

Diamond Challenge Sculls

Rodrigo Ideus successfully qualified on Friday, and so five TSS members are in the main draw: Alan Campbell, Mahe Drysdale (West End RC), Rodrigo, Tim Maeyens (Koninklijke Roeivereniging Brugge) and Olaf Tufte (Horten Roklubb), with all five of the Great Eight members having been selected.

Double Sculls Challenge Cup

Richard Hardy, in a composite with Pete Wells of Bryanston School, were pre-qualified.

Prince of Wales Challenge Cup

The TSS A quad (Toby Lonergan, Richard Twyman, Gareth Sharpe and Charlie Clarke) have been selected, while TSS B - Ed Griffiths, George Turner, Stan Livy and Simon Suthers - fought through the qualifiers for their place. The pre-qualified TSS/Molesey composite will feature a late appearance by 2008 Henley winner Mike Hennessy as a result of an injury to Max Stallard (crew: Ockendon/Taylor/Dunley/Hennessy).

Thames Challenge Cup

The eight of Nathan O'Reilly, Tom Wheeler, Nick Marriott, Graham Benton, Mark Roberts, Toby Marshall, Rob Irving, Jon Davies and Miranda Fisher have also been selected.

Fawley Challenge Cup

The TSS/Walton composite featuring Jonathan W were pre-qualified. The J16 had a storming qualifiers, overtaking some other boats along the way and start the regatta on Thursday.

Several crews were at their first proper regata, but all raced well against strong composition, and despite organisational challenges and an impromptu swim, a great day was rounded off with three wins.

Xanni and Gigi, on opposite sides of the draw, ended up racing each other in the final of WJ14 singles with Xanni just pulling ahead to take victory.

The WJ13 quad of Sophie, Saskia, Jackie and Hermione, with Xanni coxing her first race, found the draw somewhat daunting, but sailed through their semi-final against Henley. The final was against their close rivals - and friends - Eton Excelsior, but TSS prevailed with superb character.

Once again there were two TSS scullers in the same event, WJ13 singles. Saskia drew a talented Eton Excelsior sculler and pushed her very hard, but lost her heat in one of the fastest times of the day. Sophie reached on the final, where she had the race of her life against Eton Excelsior to win by just two feet.

Thanks, as ever, to Stevo for his fantastic job all day, to Judy, and to all the parents who came along to feed and support their children. And to one Mr Alan Campbell, who presented the prizes. JB

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.tidewayscullers.com/journal/2009/6/24/henley-picnic.html"><rss:title>Henley Picnic</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.tidewayscullers.com/journal/2009/6/24/henley-picnic.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

The weekday ladies invite:

TSS veteran men had a very successful regatta, returning with four gold medals and one silver - only Monmouth gained more wins in men’s crew boats. Mark Alloway and Chris Williams were involved in three of the wins, in the D4x, E4x and the D2x, made even more impressive by the fact that the D2x final was just thirty-one minutes after the E4x final. The F4- had a very strong row to take gold, beating a Derby crew that has been together for many years. In the F8+ race, TSS gave an eight-second handicap to a strong G composite from Minerva Bath and, despite a good row, was only able to make up about half that distance over the thousand-metre course.

Winning crews:

D4x Mark Alloway, Roger Swift, Chris Williams, Mike Peregrine
E4x Mark Alloway, Roger Swift, Chris Williams, Graham Bagnall
F4- Dickie Clarke, David Hudson, Francis Pinkerton, Frank Llewellyn
D2x Mark Alloway, Chris Williams
