Twickenham
The club had a mixed experience at Twickenham regatta, but came home with two wins.
Club Captain Stan Livy proved too intimidating for his opposition who scratched after the draw was published leaving him without events to race in.
A similar fate befell Zoe Gullen, who had a row-over and then a bye to reach the final of WIM3 1x, where she lost to a fast Sport Imperial sculler.
Claire McIntosh weathered a barrage of good-natured checks and advice from her fellow umpires to win WMA/B 1x, her first regatta win in a single, before combining with Zoe for WMA/B 2x. In the heat they dispatched a Marlow double with a comfortable row but the heat and final falling twenty-five minutes either side of Zoe's WIM3 final meant that they lacked the fresh legs to deal with a quick Maidenhead crew in the final,
Kasia Lawrence and Jo Al-Janabi did a long warm up, rowing up from the club to the regatta. They just made it to the start on time, but the warm up obviously paid off as they beat Marlow in WME 2x by four and a half lengths. They deboated briefly to collect their pots and then rowed off home, back through Richmond to TSS, job done.
In the afternoon Roseanna Eisdell made a return to racing in WN1x but was unlucky to draw a GB Start athlete in the first round.
Thanks to Cygnet RC for towing the boats, Mel Sage for umpiring, and Andy and Ben Sage, Lizzie Mann, Stan Livy and Alfie and Dino for supporting. SL
